James Taylor and Carly Simon in MA
If there's such thing as royalty in the Massachusetts music world, the state's royal couple (although divorced now for over 20 years) would be James Taylor and Carly Simon.
Taylor was born in Boston, raised in North Carolina, but spent much of his youth in Massachusetts. He attended the prep school Milton Academy and his family vacationed on Martha?s Vineyard. Later he was committed to McLean Hospital in Belmont for depression. Today he lives in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts with his third wife.
Simon, who was married to Taylor from 1972 to 1983 and who has two children with Taylor, grew up in New York, but now lives in Martha's Vineyard. She is co-owner of the store Midnight Farm in Vineyard Haven that sells nature products, "rich hippie perfumes," and other products like baskets.
Simon recently gave Boston.com a tour of her favorite parts of Martha's Vineyard, which you can see online.
