New Englanders know fall just isn't the same without a pumpkin on the porch and at least one drive to an orchard or farm stand for a day of apple picking or buying a carton of cider. When the morning air has a frosty bite to it, the squirrels are scurrying around, and the leaves have turned color, there is a new energy in the air. Pumpkin pies, cranberry sauce, turkey, mashed potatoes, fresh apples, cider, and maple syrup are some of the flavors of a New England fall. Activities include a trip to Plimoth Plantation, a drive to the country, a hayride, a visit to a farm, or a hiking or camping trip in the mountains. > Foliage Guide Author: C. Danko
