Although some of the more popular beaches are further from the city, Boston and the Harbor Islands have a few good locations for cooling off.

Near the waterfront and North End, and home to some Boston's best shopping at Downtown Crossing, the Downtown neighborhood offers many choices in lodging.

An area heavily populated with students, the Brighton and Allston section of Boston lies directly across the river from Cambridge and is filled with many pubs and night spots.

With its small neighborhood shops and brick sidewalks, exclusive Beacon Hill retains the feel of 19th century Boston.
